8/04 - Got Water?
Next time you open a bottle of spring water or fill your Brita pitcher, remember how lucky you are to have clean water for drinking.
THE BAD NEWS: PID has been concerned about water contamination in the Guatemalan village in which we work. This spring, we conducted water tests on the tap water in family homes. The results show the water is contaminated with fecal matter and e coli, both of which are not approved for human consumption. PID expects many health issues in the village are a result of these unsanitary conditions.
THE GOOD NEWS: Dr. Steve Bridge, team leader for St. Joseph's College trip with PID this January, is making a difference. Dr. Bridge has announced that his is donating proceeds from his book, Getting the Gospels, to help clean up the water in Guatemala. Thank you, Dr. Bridge! To learn more about his book, check it out on his publisher's website at www.hendrickson.com.
We will keep you updated as we execute a plan to make it safe for people to drink water in their homes. We expect many health problems will be eliminated when the water is clean for consuming. Stay tuned!
