PID ANGELS CAMPAIGN

On October 16, 2021, the world lost a genuine Saint. As many of you know, that’s the day that PID’s Co-Founder and President passed away suddenly, unexpectedly—and far too soon. It is difficult to put into words what Gale meant to so many people. She had a generous heart, a keen mind, an unflappable attitude, and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of those living in extreme poverty. The remarkable legacy that Gale left behind includes thousands of children in sponsorship programs, hundreds of families in safe and respectable homes, and untold numbers who received crucial assistance with educational, small business, or medical-based needs. Of course, through PID this life-changing work continues.

Since Gale’s death, however, we’ve faced some unprecedented challenges. These include a global pandemic that suspended our service trip programs, sharp rises in the costs of medication, food, and medical supplies, unyielding political instability, and widespread gang violence (in Haiti). Despite these uncertainties, PID remains firmly committed to our communities with the same spirit of compassion, prudence, determination, and tenacity that Gale demonstrated. But we cannot do it alone. To continue the work that Gale started, we really need your help. To this end, and in honor of Gale, we are announcing the launch of our “PID Angels” campaign.

Through this campaign, we are inviting friends and associates of PID to commit to serving as “PID Angels”—individuals who pledge to support PID by donating $50 per month for a one-year period. Our goal is to find 150 individuals willing to undertake this level of commitment. Such support will ensure that PID’s work alongside those living in extreme poverty in Haiti, Guatemala, Mississippi, and Peru continues well into the future.

As a token of our sincere appreciation, the first 150 PID Angels (and Archangels) will receive an iconic 11 X 14-inch watercolor print featuring Gale surrounded by a few of those she loved so dearly – the children of Ixtacapa, Guatemala:

This beautiful and heartfelt painting was originally created by former PID Haitian Field Director, current board member, and award-winning artist, Lizzy Koah. A labor of love, the painting was a concrete way for Lizzy to mourn Gale’s passing while simultaneously celebrating the profoundly joyful impact of Gale’s life. Each limited edition Giclee print will be personally signed and numbered by Lizzy. They will be shipped individually to the first 150 of our PID Angels (and Archangels) after they have completely fulfilled their financial pledges.

You can track the progress of this campaign on our website, where the running total of participants will be recorded, and the names of all PID Angels (and Archangels) will be included.

We hope you will consider joining us as a PID Angel (or Archangel) and help spread the word about this campaign as we strive not only to honor, but to continue to perform, the noble work that Gale began.

Note: The one-year period extends from August 2023 to July 2024. Alternatively, PID Angels can make a one-time gift of $600 (or more) in August 2023, or two gifts of $300 (or more) in August 2023 and February of 2024. Any PID Angel who exceeds these minimum limits by at least 50% (i.e., $75 per month / $900 per year) shall be specially designated a “PID Archangel” and listed accordingly. All donations generated by this campaign will be earmarked for PID’s General Fund.
